We decided to remove the porch before it removed itself. Looking forward to replacing it with a lean timber framed affair with canopy.

We could have done with this fine weather last week. No matter, the tiles are now on (4 tonnes) and the ridge tiles pointed. Seems odd how you go to all that effort and it looks just the same after - or is that a good thing? Perhaps not surprisingly, given there's almost 400mm of insulation, it's been remarkably cool working in the loft.
This week we’ve tackled the south facing side of the roof. Ladders at either end first, string line across and then central ribs, screwed to side of existing rafters. Dodging showers all week so east side first, then west. Note to oneself: Tescon Vana tape doesn’t stick to wet OSB. Then 320mm Rockwool Flexi in four layers - not an exact science I now realise, topped with 60mm Rockwool Multifix DD boards for nice cosy roof. Pro Clima’s excellent Solitex Plus membrane provided both weather protection and colour, especially with pretty in pink battens. Topped out, south side at least, at 4.15pm today.
