Peak Acoustics have carried out the first forensic blower door test. Preliminary air-leakage rate recorded was 6.2 air changes/hour measured at 50 Pa. Clearly room for improvement (needs to get down to 1.0), but could have been worse considering the external facing bricks have still to be parge coated. The main culprit did seem to be the cavity wall, so we should see some improvement when that's filled next year.
That worktop arrived on Monday. It's a large (3.7m x 1.5m), heavy (100kg), thin (12mm) slab of solid surface, snow white KRION made by Porcelanosa. More careful installation work by Prestige Kitchens of Stalybridge. Looks great.
The new kitchen is installed and of course everything is precise, plumb and square, unlike the existing house. The joys of existing buildings.
We need to thread a waste pipe through here somehow. We now have a front door, triple glazed of course. Only 119kg this one - closes with a satisfying thlunk.
That's the last of the Enhabit window/ door units to be installed, so we can start thinking about the air test. Very excited to see the kitchen being installed this week. Also Trevor is back on site and Ian is plastering downstairs.
Not quite so damp now the screed has dried out. Excellent work by Foggs Floors. It's a basic dry sand and cement mix with a Retanol Xtreme additive, providing strength and workability for a floating screed thickness as thin as 40mm. Looks great but we now have a very damp house as it dries out.
