The eaves detail requires special consideration to provide an air-tight line around the existing roof structure. Now we have exposed the top of the (uninsulated) cavity wall the challenge is clearer. The simplest solution seems to be boxing out with OSB and taping across the rafter and joist penetrations. The taping is proving to be surprisingly therapeutic.

How necessary is it to have the air tight layer under the existing rafters? Couldn't you save all the taping by going over the rafters, then all the insulation, then the wind tight layer and covering? Obviously the roof covering stands out more then...
